The Maxon CP9-Pro might be a good call, as it has higher headroom than most pedal compressors because it doubles the 9v to 18v internally. If you're slapping about with an active bass this could cause some compressors to clip the signal and produce distortion. It also has threshold and ratio controls which give you more control than other comps which have only one or the other.
