Searching of a specific tone

Hi guys, this is my first post here.

I'm new to effects and I'm looking for something that sounds like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MkF_IIFiZk
at 00:38-01:08

It's like a bright metallic tone. At first I thought he used a moderated Overdrive pedal, but it's not like the BOD100 at all (which only add this fuzzy noise - definitely not what I'm looking for).
Maybe he doesn't use any effects and it's just the EQ settings? Or that other Overdrive effects are can be tweaked to sound like that?

Thank you

I'm listening to this through my iPhone speaker, so I'm not gonna get the full nuance, but it just sounds like a J with rounds being played aggressively.

What are you playing through now? Sometimes an effect pedal is just the thing, depending on your current rig, (your profile is blank). My point is, if you're playing through a practice amp, no fx will get you there.
