I tested out a used Line 6 Bass POD xt Pro rack unit and I no longer need the sansamp BDI, compressor pedal or Zoom B2.1u. All for sale in ebay.

This thing is awsome and the computer setup makes it a winner. Outstanding piece of equipment. That is all that I ahve to say and I won't link to ebay for so no one thinks I am trying to spam on here.

That's fine, but maybe you can describe in a little more detail what the Line6 is doing better for you than the other units? For example, how is its SVT model better than the Sansamp, and how are its other effects better than the Zoom? What about it do you like, other than that it is "awesome"?

Well:
It is more versatile. It has a compressor, it can be hooked up to the computer to record and you can fine tune the adjustments. The only thing the Zoom has that was handy was a drum machine. The zoom was really just for recording but the POD is built for both.

I think that the settings have more control and add more depth to the tone. It has a more professional sound. The Zoom limited what you could dial in and the POD is almost endless. I can set up settings on the computer and upload them to the POD which I was not able to do with the Zoom. I can have my computer play songs through the POD and listen with my headphones while I play.

It has a ton of effects that so me seem more than what I need. I like the fact that I can dial in different cabinets and amps then thrown in effects. They have a website of setting put together by other users and I can download them then upload them to the POD.

It does more than what I know how to do just yet and I am still learning. My friend who is a professional musician and music editor for TV and Movies is in love with the thing and can't believe how much it does. I had too much noise with the Boss limiter enhancer and the Sansamp was great but the POD takes its place.

I don't know what else to say, I am not good at detailed reviews. My local music store let me take it home to try it out and the rest is history. I downloaded all of the software and firmware that it has from the Line 6 website too.

I was really curious about the Bass POD xt Pro when i saw a rack of them backstage at a TSO concert last week. I hope this helps. Your previous reviews of compressors is outstanding and I thank you for all of your hard work

My pleasure. I appreciate you adding the info you did, it will probably help people in their search for all-purpose processors. I'll have to try one of those out myself now!

Please do if you get a chance. One of your reviews would be much more helpful. I know you will like it.

I like the POD XT Live as well, but it is limiting... In a way. Here is your example.

I wanted one for effects only, no cab or amp simulators. It is very limited when using just the effects. Sure you can custom tailor them for your sound, but none of them stand up to real stompboxes, or do it well. Some of the effects down right suck...

I will say they are very useful preamps and effects for delay, and flanger and stuff, but fuzz or synth is a no go.

I've yet to really be sold on Line6 stuff. It's fun to play with in the bedroom, but I'd have no use for it on stage.

One of the guitar players in my band used a POD X something floor unit for the last year or so, he added a tube pre-amp to warm it up some. Recently he sold it and went back to all analog ... Then my #2 guitar player ditched his analog and is now using a Korg Toneworks 3000 something pedal bank.

I'm old school analog ... just keep it simple for me.

I do think the new crop of effects like the POD etc; offer a lot of bang for the buck, and seem to work well for lots of folks.

... Ahh the never ending quest for the right sound

I'll tell you this. My brother is the guitarist in my band. He has had almost every digital board out there, with the exception of the POD.

He now has a full effects board, and a real marshall half stack... He will never go back...
