Sell Digitech Bass Whammy to fund for Eventide Pitchfactor?

Sign in to disble this ad
So, I can see that Bass Whammys sell second hand for around AU$600 these days so I'm thinking of selling mine to fund for an Eventide Pitchfactor. Question is, is it worth it? Frankly, I don't care that the bass whammy is discontinued and rare, I'm after sounds, not a "rare pedal collection"

What I don't understand is the pitchshifting options on the Pitchfactor. The only settings I really use on my Bass Whammy are octave up, second up (for the songs I write), and octave/5th up (disposition by tool :P). Will the Pitchfactor achieve these? I noticed on the website it said you can dial in any range +/- 2 Octaves. Does this mean ANY note in that range?

Cheers,

Tom

Yes, any note in a +/- 2 octave range, and two notes at a time in Pitchflex mode. It can do any interval the Bass Whammy can do and a lot more.

hmmmmm, interesting idea .. i should also think about selling my Whammy and buy a good replacement.

Possible to simulate the Whammy/Pitchfactor functions with the Axe-FX Ultra?

this sounds like a smart idea to me. cash in that whammy before nobody cares about them anymore, and re-invest in something with more practical use

I don't think he's joking, Fasto. Folks pay crazy dough for that particular pedal - I've seen them go for $600 - $700+ on ebay. There's a completed auction listed on ebay now for one that went for over $560. Even at that "low" a price, you'd still have some money left over after buying a Pitchfactor.

And if you catch a used one (like I did here on TB ) -- even better.

Don't forget to account for the cost of an EB VP Jr 25k. Never played a Bass Whammy, but I'm still completely in love with my Pitchfactor. Plus it has some non-whammy functions that are pretty good too

The PitchFactor blows the Whammy out of the water in terms of features, tracking, and the ability to call up numerous user-preset banks. I used to own one, and only gave it up because I just wasn't using octave effects enough in the music I play.

Rocking the Pitchfactor in Pitchflex with the EB VP Jr and some cataclysmic combination of fuzz/distortion is one of the funnest things in the known universe.

I got my Pitchfator this summer second hand and I'm still completely in love with it. There's so much you can do with this pedal it's ridiculous; I get the feeling that I'm barely scratching the surface even after playing around with it for a while. But, on the flip-side, it's not overly complicated either. A reallllyyyy great pedal if you're into octaves and general over the top crazyness.

I've had one since they became available, and I think I'm getting a good hold on most things it can do. I actually keep a list of things I wanna try with it -- next is flanging. If you haven't explored it yet, figure out how to use it as a trem; it's very rewarding before a fuzz.

I've actually realised it's a rewarding fuzz in its own right too. Brilliant pedal, one of the best tools anyone could own.
