Short Skirt Long Jacket - was it a synth?

Just curious. I recently heard this song in my SUV and was able to hear the bass much more distinctly than I have ever been able to in the past, and the line was played with such punch and precision that I was beginning to think it was actually done on a synth. Anyone have any thoughts about this?

I've seen it played live a couple times, and the bassist played it then, not keys. But I don't know what they did for the record.

Yeah, I'm really curious because it just doesn't sound like a normal bass guitar tone to me.

Oddly enough, on my speakers at home I couldn't notice a difference; it's only in my SUV where it stands out this way.

Sounds like bass to me. Seen them play it live on TV and the bassist used a bass.

They play in on the bass live. His tone is terrible, but it's definitely bass.
