Signal Chain?

Im Currently running a few effects and was wondering which is the most effective to maximize the sounds (Ive got quite a grungy sound)

anyhow, pedals are

Proco "The RAT" Distortion Pedal
T-Rex Sweeper Bass Chorus Pedal
Tech 21 Sansamp Bass Driver DI
MXR Carbon Copy Delay Pedal

Also, I was wondering, I read that Distortion/overdrive effects work better just fed through the input direct from the bass and left out of any effects loop, is this actually true as I have noticed before I started to expand my setup I just used to run distortion through the Input and since I added it into the loop the effect seems diminished

Nice set of pedals. Setting up an effect chain is mostly a question of experimenting, but I'd start with this:

BASS > Proco "The RAT" Distortion Pedal > BDDI > T-Rex Sweeper Bass Chorus Pedal > MXR Carbon Copy Delay Pedal > AMP

This article sheds light on pedal order. It's from TBer Bongomania.

As for your effect loop question, I can't answer, I've never used one. Always went for the input. Seems most bassists do.

If you're using the sansamp DI out to a mixer, you should put that last so that all of your effects are sent to the PA (if that is your desired effect).

Thank you for your advice, ill check it out

When I first bought my bass driver I put it first in my pedal chain, and was horrified when I stepped on my tuner (last in the chain) and could still hear my open E ringing through the sound system

I do oct > comp, but comp first could work too. Comp before could help feed a more even signal to the octaver, but comp after would help feed an unprocessed signal to the octaver, and maybe help even out any spikes caused by the octaver.
