Some Simple Questions

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, so I've got a few questions I'd like to ask about FX. I've already got quite a selection, but some space will be opening on my board soon, so I wish to extend my range.

Question 1)
I'm planning on buying an envelope filter, and have been drawn to the DOD FX25b, as it's incredibly cheap and seems to get some good word around here. I was recommended it before, however I will happily check out any other recommendations (not spending more than £60 though)

Question 2)
I'm also planning on getting a synth pedal, and I have the Akai Deep Impact in mind. Problem is, I can't find one anywhere! I'm assuming they are discontiunued, however anyone with information on where to find one, could you let me know? I'm really into these and would love to own one!

That is all for now.

Many thanks to anyone with answers.

1) The one that get the good words is the fx25, older and discontinued version without the "b".

2) yes, they're discontinued. But there're other good synth pedals.

Or you can buy the fx25, an octaver and a fuzz and combine them for a synth sound.

I was searching for the same thing a few weeks ago. I settled on a Digitech Bass Synth Wah. I love it!

Cheap too!! Got it with an older Phase 90(both used) for $90

You may want to check out a Digitech bass synth Wah on that budget.

Thanks guys.

The Deep Impact seems way outta my price range. Stuck between the BSW and the FX25. I really just want an envelope filter, don't need any sub-octave filters cos I have an octaver.

Does anyone have the BSW and use more than just the auto-wah?

Also, probly a silly question. But is it possible to blend an effected signal and a clean signal without having 2 amps? Is there a pedal which can blend or something?

Many thanks

The FX25 is a band pass filter where most other envalope filters are low pass filters i.e the BSW. Most people use FX25 as an always closed filter for dub and other deep bass applications. If you are wanting it for standard filter applications you will be sorely dissapointed. Also the DOD bypasses suck tone horribly in general.

The BSW is a pretty useful tool for a cheap envalope filter as the synth setting can be fun as well and the octaver tracks and sound decent, its not great, but I'd take it over the FX25 pretty much every time.

A boss LS-2 should do the signal blending you're referring to.

Many thanks. I will try and get hold of a BSW.

There's a DI in the TB classifieds... Sorry if this has already been told (I'm driving).
