Something low power with headphone out and integrated tuner

Sign in to disble this ad
I need a bass headphone amp/pedal/whatever that allows me
to practice with headphones, has an integrated tuner, and
doesn't chew up batteries.

Currently I use a Zoom B2 for this. Biggest problem is - it needs 6 AA's, and it chews them quickly.

I see CTech has a Pockit Rockit V2B answering all the needs,
but I'm not so sure they actually brought it to market.

Any suggestions? [ideally ones that don't cost a ton]

Thanks.

Just tried to contact CTech/Pockit Rockit. The mail bounced
back.

Are they still in business?

First off, I will say I have no experience with the zoom myself, but if batteries are the problem why not just get the Ac power adapter for it?

Because I need to keep it simple and untethered. I'm incapacitated because of a bad leg break recently.

This looks like a possibility:

Try the older Zoom 506II. I use that with lithium batteries and they last forever! Or buy an AC adapter. I just bought the B2. I'm hoping I get the same performance using lithiums. I also own the older model Pocket Rock-It. No tuner on it though.

What about one of the Tascam bass trainers? I have the MP3 version with a rechargeable battery. it has a tuner, some effects (haven't tried the tuner or the effects, but works great for practicing, and you can charge it via you computer or a power cord.

This hit the spot:

My son picked it up for me later today. It has a tuner, an integrated mini amp, a metronome, a rhythm machine [with suprisingly non-cheese sounds], a CD/MP3 input, and dial-able distortion. [not using that. YMMV]

All powered with a single 9V battery. All for 40 bucks.
Exactly what I needed.

I would have recommended the Tascam MP-BT1, but it sounds like you already got something. The Tascam has all you want and many more. Plus, it's rechargeable.

Just watch out for the CD ones though... If batteries are important ayway.

The CD version of the Tascam Bass Trainer totally destroys batteries in no time at all. Its a great unit that can be found cheap on the used market (mine was $49), but it really needs to be plugged into the wall.

I may have to pick something like this up. It looks like it'd be great for late night dorm room practice. So it has a headphone out and an AUX in for cds or a computer? Damn. I should get one.

Yup. Best 40 bucks for bass related gear I ever spent.
