something to replace my BOSS LMB-3 Limiter

Sign in to disble this ad
so i haven't done much research but was curious what people were using as a limiter besides the boss lmb-3. as lame as it might be, i LOVE the sound with the ENHANCE knob turned up. it colors the sound so nicely. is there any other pedals out there less than $200 that will give me a nicer sound than the boss?

Define "nicer". For example, the "enhance" knob on the LMB-3 is just a mid-scoop EQ. So are you looking for a better-sounding EQ? Or are you happy with the mid-scoop, and want a more effective or toneful limiter?

i guess what i'm really looking for is a better limiter / compressor. i can always scoop the mids with a pre-amp.

I'm sure Bongo will have a few suggestions, but I'll just chime in to say that I am a former LMB-3 user, and I'm using the Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone right now. It can definitely do an admirable job at peak limiting. It has quite a heavy hand though, and you're going to want to be judicious with the sustain knob, as it can squash the HELL out of your signal when cranked.
