Hey guys, title says it all, I've been looking for something to replace my QTRON + on my smallish pedalboard. I'll post a pic below of what I have to work with:
So Ideally I'd like something with around the same form factor but I'd like if it could be run off a 9 volt power supply. I was considering the QBalls and the Bass Micro Synth, but it doesn't necessarily have to be an EHX effect, and it can be more than one effect, if you think they'll fit in the space occupied by the QTron.
Currently I have: Polytune Tuner> MXR Bass octave> Qtron +> MXR Bass Comp> Dunlop 105 bass wah> Wounded Paw Battering Ram> TC Corona Chorus.
Let me know what you've got! |

My main problem with the Qtron was it doesn't offer a different enough sound from the wah pedal to warrant the space it takes up on my board. How different is the groove regulator from the qtron? |

The 3Leaf Proton would be closer for sure. I'd say the MXR BEF would be the best (fits your requirement, closest in sound. Still has it's own sound though) replacement but it's band-pass only so it sounds pretty awful with any sort of fuzz. The Source Audio BEF might be a good move as well. Can't be beat in terms of versatility and doesn't sound like anything else out there.

And the ability to interact well with fuzz is a big selling point for me. It doesn't necessarily have to be an envelope filter either! Just something you guys think would add something interesting to the pedals on the board and interact well with what's already there. |

Best of both worlds, lots of range, it knocked my old Q-Balls off and the builder is a great guy! |

I can dial in whatever I'm after, from a subtle richness to a sound that’s chocolate dipped, without affecting the nuances of my bass.. It’s the best built out of my pedals. 9V battery compartment is on the back. It retailed for $349 at the music store, but i talked them down to $250 .
The only gripe I have with this pedal is the Decay (drop off) effect is not as noticeable as the other knobs..
Before i bought the MXR, I tried a Micro Q-Tron and Maxon AF-9, They didn't really do it for me..The effect couldn't really swim in the deep end like the Auto Q could.. I guess because it is made specifically for bass..
I would recommend at having a look at the EBS Bass IQ. It's a very good wah. I just couldn’t bring myself to pay $400 for a pedal at the time..
