something we (tb admins) are working on for you folks

heya guys

recently, during my daily lurking in the classifieds looking for cool effects, i realized that all the non-effects threads in the "accessories" forum were really cramping my style, so i decided that an effects only classifieds sub forum was in order. after floating it past my honorable co-admins, we decided that yes, it was good, so we're passing it up the tree to paul, for him to implement.

so very soon, we will have an "effects" only sub forum in the classifieds. we're also going to be renaming the "amps" sub forum "amps, preamps and cabinets" to help minimize bleed-over or dupe posts.

thought you guys would get a kick outta that. i know i'm psyched.

Brilliant. I think this will declutter things as well.

My only related suggestion is to create a subforum of: "Dirt cheap, like-new condition, effects that Unrepresented has been GASing for."

Right on. I've felt the same way perusing the classifieds.

So will the "Accessories" forum still exist for things like strings, bass preamps & pickups, bass books etc?

since it's technically a preamp, i would imagine it would go into the amps cabs and preamps, along with the likes of the aggie tone hammer

I think that's fantastic. It's always been a bit confusing whether a preamp goes into accessories or amps or what. Now it will only be confusing as to how to categorize a pedal... preamp or effect.

The line between preamp and fx pedal is a very blurry one in many cases. Some overdrives like the Hematoma and BB are labelled as preamps, many people use a Sansamp as an overdrive pedal. I say if it's a pedal, stick it in effects. Maybe even tuners? How about naming the thread 'pedals and effects' which is a bit broader?

I don't think a little bit of cross-over is bad. In the past I've listed a preamp one place for a while and if it didn't sell I'd put it in the other for a week or so.

Seems reasonable to me. Anything in a "stompbox" type enclosure seems fair game for being in the "effects" area.

we're shooting on having this implemented fairly soon, as soon as paul checks it out and gives it his ok.

we can make the title "effects and pedals" - that should be no problem.

The answer should be obvious here: no. Those items will now be listed in the Basses section of the classifieds, as a service to all TB members, as the cluttering of that forum will frustrate browsers to the point they refuse to look at it, thus preventing GAS-fueled bass-binges unbecoming of the current economic climate.
