Smile Sonic Maximizer rack used in pedal chain

Sign in to disble this ad
I currently use a Gibson Grabber running into a Boss Tuner Pedal, 3 channel Sansamp bass DI, Boss Bass Overdrive, a Boss dd-20 Giga Delay, and an Ampeg SVT Classic with matching 8x10. I want to also get a Big Muff, mod my Boss CS-3 through humphrey mods for bass compression, and a rackmounted BBE sonic maximizer. I would like to use the sonic maximizer as part of my pedal chain. I'm hoping to find out if I can use this as part of the chain of pedals with an effect close to the same as if I run it through the effects loop. If so I planned on getting the Boss Line Selector(I know its alot of boss on the board haha) to use two different settings for the sonic maximizer. Any help is reallly appreciated.

Any input on the order of the pedals is also greatly appreciated!

Thanks! ^_^

-Brendon

Why not just put the maximizer in the effect loop?
Have you used a sonic maximizer before? It's generally not the kind of "effect" that people use multiple settings with. Usually they set it for the room and leave it.
I don't know how it likes instrument level signal vs. line level but if you use it with the line selector and leave it on top of your amp you'll have a lot of wire running around. If you put it on the floor, well, watch your step.
As for effect order...it's a matter of personal taste. I like my delay at or near the end to catch my otherwise finished sound. I also tend to put amp simulation toward the end, where an amp would be. The DI of the sansamp will have your whole sound if it's last. Since you don't have any spikey filters or other pedals that "need" compression you might put the comp first to keep it clean. Then I would try the overdrive into the fuzz. Lastly, I have my tuner right before my delay so I can mute my signal chain and let the delay keep going.
You'll probably get a different order from everyone who replies.
