I am looking to buy a BBE Sonic Maximizer, but there are a LOT of models. Any ideas on which one are good and which ones to avoid for bass guitar? Thanks.

I have a 362 (the cheaper of the models). I think it really adds a lot of tonal options. And it really rounds out the sound. I would say go for it, I think any of the models would work great.

i've been looking at these recently too. I think they all do the same thing, so it doesn't matter which model. It's just a matter of packaging. Of course some are two channels, there's the Sonic Stomp (pedal form), and the MaxComp (compressor, gate, and sonic maximizer in one unit).

edit: diff versions appear to have different connection options (balanced/unbalanced etc). And there's one for home theater use.

Go with a cheap used one. You can find them for $30-50 if you keep your eye peeled. Probably will have unbalanced 1/4" and RCA ins / outs which is more than adequate for installation in your effects loop. The better models have balanced XLR's.
