I was thinking, are there any overdrive pedals out there designed specifically for bass with the Tubescreamer fundamental in mind?
An overdrive pedal that, with the drive turned all the way down, does not add any colour to the tone of the instrument. Of course, the volume can be cranked for a solo boost or something.
Anything like that out there? Could the Fulltone Bassdrive be such a pedal?

In all seriousness, he's right. There are so many of them out there that there's no way you could have done a search before posting this thread. There are more of them than I care to list here.
For starters, look into the DigiTech Bad Monkey, or if you're willing to shell out more, the Xotic Bass BB Preamp. |

But in all seriousness, there are overdrive pedals out there for guitar that boast sonic transparency. I've seen several demos where one guy clicks on the pedal, no difference in tone. This would be useless, except the volume is often cranked for a boost.
I was just curious if there was anything like that for bass.

Umm. Wow. Yeah.
There is no need to look for a bass-specific pedal in a clean boost. MXR Micro Amp. Bam. |

In retrospect, you'll have to forgive us if our reaction was harsh, but you seem like a somewhat intelligent fellow, and you should really put more effort into searching next time. It will save you a lot of palm-->face reactions, and unhelpful answers/trolling. |
