Soooo, any OTHER EQ pedals?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm a very specific person when it comes to what I expect from my equipment and what I look for, so I figured buying an EQ pedal would be no sweat...how can you go wrong?

My current setup is: Sansamp RPM -> Behringer Europower 1500 power amp -> Avatar Neo 2x10 cab. I love the tone of my rig and ALL I want to do is be able to scoop my mids on command so I can go into slap parts easily (I sing too, so no time to fiddle with my EQ during a song). Since the RPM has a knob for what frequency you want your mids on, I have mine set at 1.5khz, so when I scoop that on the amp it sounds PERFECT for my slap tone...exactly how I want it.

All I want is a transparent pedal that will give me workable frequencies with my sweet spot for mids included. The Boss GEB-7 does NOT do this for me (goes from 800hz to 4.5khz....WTH?!?!). The 6-band MXR EQ was my next choice, but the I think the AC Adapter plug is on the side (doesn't work with my BCB-60 pedalboard) and I don't have room for the 10-band one on my pedalboard. I've already considered the GE-7 but can't justify an extra $30 just so my mids are where I want them, when the GEB-7 is at $69 brand spanking new. I've considered a rackmount EQ but that doesn't help my situation to not be able to switch it on and off with my foot, and the last thing I need is more cables complicating my rig.

I just wanted to know if there are any other EQ pedals out there that any of you guys know of that will cover 1.4khz-1.6khz that aren't going to cost and arm and a leg? (I'd prefer something around $75 new or less). At this point and time I really am not concerned about boosting my lows or highs too much, as I'm satisfied with leaving them where they are on my Sansamp. I've already done searches on here in effects and even classifieds but have come up with zilch to help me out. Again, JUST looking for something to scoop the mids...not really interested in a preamp pedal or anything I'm not going to use.

It's currently out of stock, but if you're handy with a soldering iron:

you know, I'm practically to that point lol. I'm not too handy with a soldering iron (or math for that matter) but I'm going to keep an eye on that page.

Just out of curiosity, about how much was it when they had it in stock?

I had to go back to archive.org to find the price. It was $94.95.

What you want to achieve would be more easily done with a parametric than graphic EQ.

Are there any on the market that are of nominal quality/price? Honestly I never really see that many parametric ones that aren't strapped to a pricey preamp pedal. Any suggestions on some to keep an eye out for?

I've owned them before, the huge jump from 800hz to 4.5khz is too far off from the 1.5khz spot that I'm aiming for. Otherwise, I would buy a used GEB-7 in a heartbeat.

This Pedal could fit your needs - 8 bands, one at 1,6k:
http://www.effectsdatabase.com/model/artec/se/beq

I don't know if there is a distribution in the US, but you can find them easily on ebay...

That would be another option:
http://www.effectsdatabase.com/model/artec/se/peq

Never tried one, but our guitarplayer uses an artec for his acoustic. seems to be ok.

The parametric would be better to simulate your amp-EQ, as you can dial in every parameter. On the BEQ the bandwith is fix...

THANK YOU!!!

While the AC Adapter is on the side (I'd prefer on the top for my BCB-60's power setup) I don't think it would suck through 9v's like nobody's business...plus this is a tuner as well, I actually needed one very badly in pedal form. Quite a find if you ask me, thank you very much!!
