Looking for an auto wah or envelope filter different than my Xerograph.
I was thinking AF9 or a Robotalk 2. I would like a more traditional, but really wet and funky vibe. Anyone care to comment?

If you can stand its faults, the old Kermit-green DOD FX25 is still one of the wettest, funkiest filter pedals ever.

I dug it but the Robotalk 2 has a very dry tone to it, not wet and funky. The Maxon has a much more organic feel to it.

Any of the Qtron versions would also fit the bill. I haven't tried it myself but the 3Leaf Proton might do what you want. I also love the old FX25s but they can be a bit of a fickle beast.

I had a Robotalk2 and liked it alone but it got lost in the mix. I think you might want to check out the EBS BassIQ since it is wet and Funky(IMO, YMMV, etc.). Eric!'s suggestions are right on point.

Right on guys. I found the gr2 a little tame for me and the SA a little to digital.

I am having a lot of fun with a Boss AW3, not usually my thing but the different modes really offer some interesting choices and it really works well with the fuzz I use.

I HAAAAAAAATE JOOOOO! We're not friends anymore

Nah, I only take issue when people don't have any structure to a question could otherwise be solved quickly through the magic of search (on the Tubez of You, Talkbass and Google, no less). I actually plan on giving a constructive response in the other thread when I get a sec.

Anywhoozle, wet, bubbly, funky and somewhat traditional sounds like either a 3Leaf Proton or EHX Q-tron to me. The Proton is awesome as you can see here:

3Leaf Audio Proton Envelope Filter on bass - YouTube - Spencer is one seriously funky dude

The Q-tron gets in a similar realm but the controls are finicky and with the Q-tron+ XO (which is what I had) it's pretty easy to get into "***?!" territory and I mean that in the bad way - like, "why is there no sound and/or why doesn't this knob do anything?" It's only worse with the EHX Enigma. Great sounds held back by strange controls.

Getting a little farther away from what you're asking for The Agent 00Funk is the wetest bubbliest thing around but it has a very unique character. It's tough to dial in and clean it sounds somewhere between funky and synthy. Dirty, it's synth all the way. Mine isn't going anywhere. The MXR M82 is all kinds of funky and super wet too but "bubbly" doesn't really come to mind when I hear it. It's hard to explain. If you haven't already check out Uriah Duffy's vid here: MXR M82 Bass Envelope by Uriah Duffy - YouTube

Just a note. The Chunk 00Funk is a great filter but it and the Xerograph cover VERY similar tonal territory. If you're looking for something different than your Xero (especially one more traditional and "wet" sounding) the Chunk is not the way to go.

Prometheus is really awesome. I have one of the old ones but i'm sure with the added control the DLX version would get super funky. Its definitely not tame and or digital sounding.

Now that, I would've never guessed. I've yet to get my hands on a Xero but you saying that makes me want one at least for comparison purposes.

Good call.

The MXR and the GR would also have been good calls.

EBS BassIQ is pretty bubbly, but I don't really have enough experience with filters tbh.
