Sound help? - Please help.

I'm posting this in effects and not amps because I figure the question could involve an effect more so than an amp.

I recently bought my first bass amp, an Acoustic B100. It's good so far for average tone, but I cannot find the sound I'm looking for. I'm using an Epiphone Thunderbird as well.

The sounds I'm looking for are as follows:

1.) This crisp, clean, "piano sounding" sound (ignore the lyrics):

I'm experimented with this for hours and I just can't find it. I'm starting to think I have the wrong bass and amp and I require something more "pro", or an effects pedal of some kind. I'm kind of new to the bass, so understand my lack of sound skill. Thanks.

I'm already playing with fresh roundwound strings and a pick so I'm sure that helps.

I hear Epi T-Birds are a bit muddy sounding... You could always sell or trade it for a Squier Classic Vibe Jazz, an OLP Stingray or Ibanez ATK, strung with DR Hi-Beams or something. Or if you must have the T-Bird shape, you could try some new pickups. Also a better amp/cab with a tweeter would help!

There are some pedals that could help give you a bright scooped sound (EHX Knockout, BBE Sonic Stomp, Sansamp BDDI, or any EQ) but I recommend you start with the right bass and amp first.

Honestly, both your bass and your amp lean heavily the "other" way, as in not crisp, clean and piano like. You're not likely to get there with your present gear. Adding an effect will have no effect in this case. What you want is a bright bass, (something with single coils), and a modern sounding amp, like a Genz Benz, MarkBass, even the Mesa Carbines. For now, just enjoy the deep rich vintage tone you most likely have.
