Hi All,

I have searched the threads for a simple detail, and cannot find one anywhere - can anyone tell me where the Source Audio Bass Multiwave Distrortion is MADE???

It's the pedal with 1 footswitch, and controls for Drive, Clean Level and Distortion Level - as well as the distortion mode knob...

Anyone know? It's actually a deal-breaker for me b'w USA and Chinese-made gear. Haha, Thanks!

We studied all of our options of where to make our pedals when we started the company. The cost to assemble them in the USA was twice the cost, and we could never sell them for anywhere near the $119 price point. Some customers even complain to us that $119 is too much. The quality of our current manufacturing partner is really excellent. Our circuit board requires really accurate assembly machines, and almost all of that equipment is outside the USA. I am going to guess that less than 1% of all elecronics goods are made in the USA these days.

I am also fairly certain that the knobs, capacitors, resistors, op amps, transisotrs, switches, jacks and other electrical components used in all pedals are all made outside the USA these days. There simply is not much of an electronics industry here anymore.

I really wish we could make the pedals here. It would be easier for us in many ways, and I like the idea of creating good paying jobs. At least we do 100% of our design work and marketing work in house and provide a number of good paying jobs with benefits.

If someone knows a really low cost, experienced, high quality electronics equipment contract manufacturer here in the USA, please send me a PM!!

Mr. Smith,

If it would be easier in many ways, and if you like certain aspects of doing so why don't you find a way?

I can't say this specifically applies to you and your business. Too often goods made in China and other such places carry a hefty price tag despite the cheap labor. Go to any department store and check out the prices on most upscale designer labels and ask yourself if those prices are really passing on any of those savings from off-shore production to the consumer.

Generally, all that is really happening by moving production off-shore is that profit margins are being increased or maintained, marketing budgets are fattened as are C-Suite salaries and perks.

There are also savings realized by not having to deal with any of those pesky environmental regulations. However that avoidance means increases of certain externality costs on a global scale. Consumers, taxpayers, citizens usually bear these costs as well.

As I say I don't know if all this applies to you and your firm.

I will note that the last time I was in the market for a high-end home sound system I learned that the best audio equipment was made in the UK, Canada, and here in the USA. Things may have changes since then but perhaps you could contact these companies and find out where some of their components are made.

Thanks for listening.

I could care less where something is made, so long as it is made well and does what I need it to do.

And I absolutely love my Bass Multiwave Distortion Pro.
