Source Audio Wah vs. Envelope Filter

Another addition I was thinking of making to my bass FX board is either the Tri-Mod Wah or Bass Envelope Filter. I've listened to the demo videos of both. Both sound similar, yet different, like the BEF is a Wah on steroids.

Can someone please help me understand the differences between the two and so I can make a more informed buying decision.

What do I want to use either for? To add a little pep or sparkle to the occasional Klezmer or Contemporary Christian tune where such an effect will enhance, not detract, to spice things up.

I have both. The TMW is not nearly as versatile for bass,...there are several settings that have absolutely no low end. The TMW does do LFO though.

The BEF sounds good on any setting,...but I find uses for the TMW.

Warwick.hoy is right on the money with his feedback. The LFO is really the key advantage of the TMW over the BEF.

So, as a whole, the BEF seems like the better overall value if one could only get one or the other for bass.

Wait for the BEF pro and you'll get lfo's and a pedal designed for bass.

Good point...

Just to clarify,...I use my BEF as my go to Filter and keep the TMW for the LFO and and because I like using it in my feedback loop.
