Sparkle Drive vs. OCD

Sign in to disble this ad
After listening to many clips, I've narrowed down my choice to the two pedals for mild, warm overdrive. I know the Pork Loin is popular but for me it's way too ugly

My impression is:

The OCD sounds fat and warm. But it sounds like it cuts some low end.

The Sparkle Drive doesn't sound as fat as the OCD. But it can mix the clean signal, thus preserving the low end.

I welcome any opinions about the Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive vs. Fulltone OCD.

I'm selling a Sparkle Drive.

Here's my honest assessment of it.

It is very mild, but it does retain enough low end. It's more usable to me than most overdrives, but sometimes I do want something harder. You can always mod it.

The blend is nice, but at 50/50 I'm still aching for a bit more crunch. But the subtlety is nice without going full on Muse or something.

My Sparkle Drive stays on at all times. I set it really dirty and then blend the clean in for taste. If you want more gain, add fuzz on top.
