Sparks when connecting power to pedals

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a bunch of pedals powered by a 1Spot with daisy chain. When I plug power into some pedals (I think just some EHX and MXR), I sometimes get sparks flying out of the connector if I touch it to the metal casing of the pedal. I haven't fried anything, but I get a bit freaked out by it (haven't cried yet). It can make some pedals in the chain turn on.

Is it normal? Is it because I'm touching a metal case instead of plastic surround a la Iron Ether?

The spark is from applying voltage to chassis ground. Let's not do that anymore.
