Specific Pedal Order Question

Sign in to disble this ad
Over the last few weeks, I've kind of gone on a pedal shopping spree... not that I use them too often, but yeah... I like effects... I'm just trying to figure out what order to put them in... it's not that I'll be using them all on almost ever, but if I were to chose to, what would work?

Here's the ones I bought and have been planning to use w. my bass on up coming gigs:

- Volume Pedal
- Korg Pitchblack Tuner
- Boss OC-2 Octave
- MXR El Grande Bass Fuzz
- MXR M82 Bass Envelope Filter
- Vox Guitar Wah (Modified to be a Bass Wah)
- Roland RE-20 Space Echo

Now, most of the time, I'll only be using the tuner, octave, fuzz and envelope... but, in what order would these 7 pedals work best, should I chose to link them all up in a chain?

I will bite....

- Bass
- Korg Pitchblack Tuner
- Boss OC-2 Octave
- Vox Guitar Wah (Modified to be a Bass Wah)
- MXR El Grande Bass Fuzz
- Volume Pedal
- MXR M82 Bass Envelope Filter
- Roland RE-20 Space Echo
- Amp

!) Tuners and octaves should be close the source imo.
!) Fuzz > Volume > Delay is awesome.
!) Try the wah before and after the fuzz then decide.
!) I have no opinion on where your filter should go.

I forgot to add that I also have and want/need to use a Boss SYB-5 Bass Synth... I tryed a few combinations... I'll try more, including the submission above^... but the SYB-5 doesn't seem to want to be used with any other pedal, except the Space Echo... hmmm... still new to using effects much... more opinions appreciated

Your synth pedal should go towards the beginning of your chain.
Try it before and after your Octave. It might help you if you understand that certain effects need clean, strong signal to work as designed (any effect that "tracks" like an octave dropper or synth does for example).

The operative word here is "try" because no one can tell you what order to put your effects in. You get different sounds and feel from different order. Only you can decide what works for you.
