Spectacular Aenima/Tonebender/Supercollider Questions

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm kind of liking the sound of the Tonebender, but don't think I would use it very often, so I don't want to buy one. I am and have for some time been considering buying a Supercollider as I haven't really heard a whole lot I don't like from it, and its seems super duper versatile. So, would I be able to recreate tonebender sounds using a Supercollider (specifically thinking of Tool here)?

Alternatively, I used to have an SA, but sold it and now am regretting it and am thinking about looking for another. I seem to remember this sounding tonebendery, but I wasn't really familiar with tonebender when I had it and figure this might be my memory playing tricks on me. So am I crazy, or does the SA sound tonebendery?

Lastly, this thread:
Difference between the Tonebender, Bass Fuzz and SUPA Tonebender?
says that the tonebender is itself a Big Muff clone which kinda has me going . True or false?

Yeah, the Supercollider can nail Tonebender and Muffish sounds.

I have a Spectacular Aenima and a Supercollider will be arriving any day now. I'll throw up clips if you'd like.

I would most definitely appreciate the clips.

Ooh that's tough. I've never played a real tonebender, so I can't say. But I can say that once I played a supercollider I ordered one asap. Check out his myspace cause he's taking orders for his SC beat that features two oscillation modes as well!

I just sold my Devi artifact Aenima, it was cool but not cool enough to keep. If your looking for something cool from her I'd go for her shoegazer, it has a TP and another one of her fuzzes. The TP I think sounds like the aenima but a little more versatile, I think.

I recently replaced my Tonebender with a Bass Big Muff, extremely similar tones when setup right and the BBM had a few more juice features. The differences are more distinct on guitar though.

It's true. The Tonebender is just a Big muff with less clipping. Cut out some diodes and caps in a big muff and you got yourself a tonebender.
