Sign in to disble this ad
OK, so I got about $300 in GC gift Cards and I am ready to spend. I already know that I am going to buy the following:
Hipshot BT7 Extender Key for my MIM Jazz - $70ish
Bass Ass II for the same bass (but I need to check that it'll fit a MIM Jazz - $70ish
A new head for my snare - $15ish
Some moongels for my toms - $10ish
The leaves me with about $135 to kill. What distortion pedals might I look at while I am there? I prefer something that dosn't suck any bass - suggestions?
Thanks!

Methinks some of these items would be cheaper from MF without taking up a salesman's time... then you'd have more money to spend on a distortion, and a GC sales guy could earn his commission by recommending one to ya

They're like 60 some each, as I recall.
Should be a pretty fat sounding pair....(and the LBM is rumored to have good low end on its own).
Try stuff out!!!! |

You could stand outside and say to passers-by, "Psst, wanna buy $300 in gift cards for $299.95? A 1997 study by leading economic psychologists indicates you will perceive 299.95 as being considerably cheaper than 5 cents under 300 because of the "round number phenomenon" and see what kind of luck you have
As far as distortion, my guitar player (and I!) *loves* his Fulltone MOSFET 2, and Fulltone also makes a bass-specific version called the Bass Drive MOSFET. http://www.fulltone.com/BD.asp
I've never tried the bass one, but the guitar one rocks (for guitar or bass). http://www.fulltone.com/FD2.asp - Voted one of the Top 50 Effects Pedals of All Time by Guitar Player Magazine
This site uses frames, so I had to link directly to the frame, but the regular site is here: http://www.fulltone.com

Then you just hafta cough up a few bucks. |

I don't even know if they stock Hipshot or Leo Quann products. +1 for MXR stuff, I have the Bass DI + and it's become part of me. I have to gig at church without it in the morning and I'm nervous. |

The GC by me absolutely sucks for accesories. Everything is Allparts and Boss. No real variety, they only sell what they think you need to buy. It could just be my particular GC. I don't shop their online store, I only use their actual store for things I must have right now. |

One store in one location versus the entire world.
Compared to your average brick and mortar music store, GC has the widest selection under one roof. |

Compared to your average brick and mortar music store, GC has the widest selection under one roof. | Sure, I'll concede that fact to you. They have the largest selection of any physical storefront, but they still ain't got nothing on teh internetz. There is no comparison. Too many products out there, GC would go broke trying to stock it all.
My mom n pop store can 'order' anything, but I can do that at home behind the keyboard. |

There are dealer exclusion zones for most products. This is why I can order an Orange AD200 from any GC in my playgrounds except the one next to a certain store in San Diego. |

I am not just stating that because I work at GC...which I do...but because I have in the past had problems with the amazing deal I got on some gear that happened to be in the mom and pop store... |

Big Muffs are nice, too, but I still prefer the smoothness of the Fulldrives. Try some out and see what you think.
