Spilled water on my loop pedal...

Sign in to disble this ad
Today I knocked over a cup of water, on the other side of the room, and some spilled on my beloved Boss RC20 loop pedal. It still "works", but its acting strange. When I change the saved loops it plays the last loop I selected, and the instrument input hums pretty bad. It also pops and cracks randomly.

So, is it done for or could it be saved? Would a local amp tech or electrician be able to fix it? Any help is great.

Turn it off, dry it out (stick it above a radiator for a couple of days maybe), THEN try turning it on and see if it still misbehaves.

Running it wet won't do it any good, so stop doing that.

Update: It works again!!! I did like you said and sat it propped up near a heat vent, which is running a lot right now, and it works perfect. Such a valuable piece of gear to me, so happy that its running again. Thanks!

No worries. This also works if you drop your mobile phone down the toilet. Not that I've, y'know, ever done anything so foolish.

I've heard that packing a wet electronic device (with the battery removed) in dry rice will dry it out pretty effectively. The rice acts as a dessicant, and sucks the moisture right out.
