Squishyness rating scale suggestions please

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,
Somebody just suggested I should rate compressors on a special "squishyness" scale, and I kinda dig the idea. I could whip up a little graphic in GIF format of some kind of "squishy" icon such as soft brie or a water buffalo or a C-clamp/vise, or a round tummy or some other symbol that would be internationally recognized as meaning "squishy".

So I'm throwing open the floor to suggestions. What simplistic image, reducible to the size of an emoticon, would convey "squishy" to you?

I suppose I would have to rate everything in multiple categories such as noise level, versatility, etc. But the squishy icon would have to serve for all such things.

Whattaya got? (nothing that would get the thread closed, please. ) edit: and no poop.

I think that's a fine idea Bongo. Maybe a Nerf ball? A foot on a bug? I would suggest you do ratings for noise and transparency as well. Transparency could be a window, unless Microsoft would sue. I don't know what to use for noise, not a speaker, maybe an ear with stars around it? Anyway, a ranking system is a great idea. I've often wondered about people's perspective in reviews. "This compressor is really squishy," compared to what?
Keep us posted.

well...

Transparency = animated gif; smilie fading away (think getting active camoflage in Halo)
Squishy = I like something being physically squished by something
Noisy = the static screen from TVs

you could even relate the pictures to bass

the transparency is a bass that fades away
squishy is a bass being squished by something
noisy is the static screeen with a bass blinking in and out
