Hey all, I want to put together a pedal board with a handful of effects...I have not used effects in many, many years and am out of the loop. I know I want an octave pedal and I know I need some sort of distortion pedal...I'd like to have something that will work well for funk and maybe a couple of others.

Any suggestions would be helpful...but if you are suggesting something by brand name only, can you describe what the pedal does?

Thanks in advance, I appreciate it!!

Mark

as far as octave goes, the boss OC2 gets a lot of love here. it produces an almost synth like note one or two octaves down, with a olume for each octave

distortion and filter choices are so many, i'm sure you'll have loads of choices once people add their particular favourites.

for drive i normally use an EHX bass big muff set to dry blend mode, and add a little hair to the sound by using the volume control to layer a little fuzz on top of the clean sound.

filter wise i have a micro Q tron. set right, there are some great "quacky" sounds to be found here

I suggest checking out the Tech 21 VT Bass pedal. As JimmyM says, "It's the pedal of the future".
