Suggestions on a Reverb

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been thinking of getting a reverb pedal. I'd like something that will work nicely for bass and guitar (or anything else I may want to put through it). I did a search but didn't find much, I guess verb just isn't that popular with bass players.

I've heard nothing but good things about the EHX series, but I don't understand how one could drop so much on a pedal like Holy Grail or HG+ when they're so lacking in features. The Holier and Holiest are out of my price range as well.

So far I've been looking at the Verbzilla and the RV-5 which are pretty packed with features (esp. the Verbzilla) and cheaper. I'm open to any suggestions though. Thanks

Not sure about your price range but I love my EBS Dynaverb.

I'd like to keep it under $150 but that depends on how much I like the unit. Reverb is my favourite effect and I find a lot of use for it.

i love my verbzilla - lots of usable settings, definitely one you can grow with, no loss of low end.

Loss of low end isn't a huge deal. I'd rather that than too much low end.

the trail on/off switch is a cool feature that ive only seen on the verbzilla

the only other one ive owned is the digitech digiverb and the verbzilla is head and shoulders above that

I have the Echo Park and I like it a lot.

Most digitech stuff seems pretty cheap to me (in a bad way).

Well, the Dynaverb is more than $150. I got it for about $200. Retail is about $250. Every now and then I get these e-mails from Musicians Friend offering 20% or more discounts. I always take them up on it. I guess that's why I keep getting the e-mails.

It's a great pedal. I chose it over the Holy Grail Plus.

I already have a delay pedal. Will look into it though.

doesnt the RV-3 only do reverb OR delay - or does it have combined modes also?

it does, reverb, delay and reverb/delay modes. pretty neat actually. i use a subtle delay/reverb for some slow music, its also good for some soloing, specially when you slap, just dial it in for some subtle reverb and slapback delay.

I just picked up an RV-5 and am really impressed so far. I don't quite get some of the negative reviews this pedal has received here and there. It has some really nice reverbs, no low end loss or tone alteration and its dead quiet. I was not planning to buy this but I heard a guitar player using it in the store and it sounded insanely good. After he was done playing with it, I scooped it for $85. So far I am really liking it.

Has anyone tried one of these?

I haven't tried them - but have been curious about these pedals for a while.

I haven't tried the Reverberator, but it sounds great. I especially like the paint schemes. According to pedalgeek.com, you can't pick a paint scheme. You just get what they send you. Sounds pretty cool to me.

This being said, I think it's over the original posters budget at $250 CAD.

If you can find one, the Digitech Reverberator is hands down my favorite delay pedal.

The Dr. Scientist is definitely out my of range. I don't think I could justify spending that much on any effect at this point.

i searched high and low for reverb in a pedal - EBS dynaverb (or whatever they call it) is THE BEST reverb ive heard on bass outside of the studio. not very expencive either..

the boss RV-5 i use for delay and reverb, the reverb is good enough..but defiantely not as nice as the EBS.

+1 That EBS Dynaverb is outstanding. I also liked the reverb models on the Line 6 Bass POD and of course, that unit has a wealth of other effects as well. The Dynaverb is dynamite!....

I use the RV-5 and like it a lot. No loss of low end and the signal is clean. Can you describe how the EBS is better ?
