mart356,
Sorry, but I'm going to rant like a sour grape a little bit.
This is the third time I see this question within a week.
"My band sounds thin when the guitar player goes into solo,..."
Either:
- your band setting is not right, you're missing a guitarist
- the songs your band plays are not right (original work or covers?)
- your not doing your work as a bassist when the guitarist solos. in fact, you should be thankful for that moment, then you can make your bass shine
And you need to track something down by thursday?
Pretty short notice before a gig. If your going to fix your issue with a pedal you need more time getting to know that pedal, how to use it.
Effects are not that easy, especially as a beginner, and especially as a beginner to effects using pedals at a gig.
Think about this.
This is friendly advice from someone who has been there.
So..... (all IMO, IME, YMMV ^)
What you could use is an AKAI Unibass. Very good rythm guitarist in a box. Discontinued, hard to track down.
Or EHX microPOG.
Octave up to fill that soundspectrum, a little bit of organ-sounds if you're into that. If it fits the music your band plays.
Or... any other kinds of pitch-shifter, harmonizer....
But you have a learning curve with these kind of pedals.
It's not plug&play.
OD/distortiong... are you into that?
If not, no need to dabble into drive pedals just for the sake of filling a space in the sound spectrum if your band is a member too short.
