Super Synth or Micro Synth?

Sign in to disble this ad
I haven't been able to find anyone comparing these two pedals, so I figured I would be the one to ask!

I've been doing some synth shopping, looking for a real....electronica sound. Dubsteppy, dirty and robotic is how I would describe the sound I want. Which one of these pedals will give me my best bet for finding a sound like that?

(Or any other suggestions-except the Deep Impact-would be appreciated as well!)

So, you're looking for a particular sound?

Then my suggestion is "other": go to YouTube and search and listen for different pedals which make the sounds you want ("synth," "dubstep," etc.). Then, come back and search for discussions about those pieces of gear.

I think the current winner for live dubstep is the use of dirt combined with the Source Audio Bass Envelope Filter, incidentally. Both the regular and pro versions allow the use of their Hot Hand controller, which fits on a finger, to control the filter.

Good luck!

I just got a SYB-5, hate dubstep with all my heart but came across a function on it quite like that fluctuating bass "wub" if you like, + hold feature which keeps fluctuating.

The Markbass is definately the more modern sounding of the 2. On it's own, the Super Synth will not be able to do all of the sounds you described. It can get you in the general direction. It could definately use some more modulation. Maybe pairing it up with a SA BEF to take advantage of the hot hands.
Unfortunately, all of the synth pedals have some sort of quirk that ends up making it lack something. On the MBSS it is only one wave shape and it is very hard to get a downsweep, plus the octave is a seprate effect. Despite this, I enjoyed the pedal while I had it.

To be honest the BSY600 from Behringer has the closest sound I want, I just don't like Behringer products. The ones i've used have been awful.

Is there anything that sounds like it? With the option of the expression pedal?

with better tracking though. I have heard that the switches can be temperamental if you get a dud.

For electronica: BSY-600 with/out Exp pedal
For 70's prog/funk (think Moog): Bass Micro Synth
