Supercollider or Colorsound Bassfuzz

Sign in to disble this ad
hey, Although im really happy with my green stache, my GAS never ends and i've seen a few people comparing tonebenders with supercolliders, but does anyone have any preference between the colorsound bass fuzz and a Supercollider.

I Always wanted a tonebender, and as i cant find a supercollider for sale in the UK, a Bassfuzz will work out cheaper i believe.

if anyone has any uk links to a Supercollider retailer, that would be appreciated.

also, can the BassFuzz/tonebenders be powered with an adaptor?

There are no supercollider retailers to my knowledge. Direct sales via his myspace page. Them seem to be slow coming these days too.

ahhh, cheers grygryx - really lovin the bassfuzz site - i guess i might well go for a coloursound Bass Fuzz if i get the cash, and if it can be powered by 9v adapter

then i could make a better decision to whether i prefer it to my green stache

Oh I missed that question, it can't be powered by a 9 volt. power supply. Battery only on those colorsound fuzzes stock.

Tonebenders do not have a 9vdc jack for adapters butall you should need to do is get one of thesehttp://accessories.musiciansfriend.c...ble?sku=331506 (because there is no battery doorm assuming this is usable, youd have to make a very small hole in the bottom plate of the pedal to run the cable)
the regular tonebender also works great on bass(check chronicle's chronicle of effects thread there are good clips of it there) and if you dont mind the size of the tonebender youll probably get it much faster then the supercollider, listen to clips/demos of both and choose which one better fits your needs

cool, welll i wanted something alittle more biting than the muff, but not as synthy as the bass blowtorch. Crunchy is the word i guess. I caught a clip of the BassFuzz and it sounds great.
If i get it, i will use one of those battery adapters, i used to use them with my muffs.

Thing is, i really do like my green stache, and its only seen one practice, and i thought it sounded like the best muff ive ever played (and ive played a few), but yeah i think crunchier is the sound i want ATM.

i got some pedals for sale atm, if they sell then ill get the Bassfuzz

well the tonebender like Chronicle's is the same price as the BassFuzz direct from the macari's website, and i figure it makes sense to pick the bassfuzz out of the two as its a tonebender with more bass, right? I know the bass on the regular tonebender is meant to be gread, but what i yeard on youtube from the bassfuzz sounded awesome.

I loved my Tonebender but ended up liking the Supercollider even more. The Bass Fuzz is the same as the normal one but can get a more synthy sound with maxed fuzz.

IMHO, it'd be better to get a supercollider. You can always get a Tonebender and there's a lot more of them out there. There's only a handful of supercolliders and no telling how long they will be made.

From this thread about the supercollider beast about Earthbound Audio effects status:

I'll be responding to the backlog of myspace messages and emails over the next couple of days.

The Supercollider is once again available for order through one of the following methods:

1. Full payment through Paypal
2. 2/3 payment up front, 1/3 when the pedal is ready to ship through Paypal.
3. Immediate purchase through the forthcoming Earthbound Audio Etsy. com store.

Turnaround time for the Supercollider is 3-4 weeks.

Pedals bought through etsy.com will ship immediately. This will be primarily for one-off pedals, new models, or those with alternate colors or artwork. Check back in early February for more details.

The Supercollider OSC Beast is out of production until sometime in Spring. These pedals are a nightmare to build and have been a never-ending headache. They'll be pre-built in small quantities and sold only through the etsy store.

More news next week.
Goodnight,

If I'm correct (and correct me if I'm wrong), the two oscillating feedback loops are most likely the two tranny muff feedback loops that hook up to the emitters and other legs of the transistors. They are definitely annoying to work with since you either have to solder a wire directly to the tranny leg or to the solder blob under the board. Then, since he's doing the footswitch thing, that totally adds to the difficulty factor. Any way you slice it, it's a beach to do, but if people are willing to wait an extra week or two for a special build, it might behoove Mark to consider making them that way. But throwing them on Etsy.com is still cool, too.

if you want an all-around fuzz, get that messdrive hybrid. if you want a nice muff clone like this, stick with it.

it is a tough call, this sight has given me horrible GAS for all types of dirt/fuzz pedals, I have a tentacle love on order (another one i cant use till may sadly, wouldnt have known about it if my parents didnt put my email down instead of theirs) so with a bunch of different fuzz pedals coming in, im not too sure if i need an all around fuzz.

The dudes with oscillating beasts must be wetting their knickers about that.

FTR: Nobody's talking about the Pickle Pie 'B'. It's a brilliant bass fuzz but sadly suffers from the same production issue as the Supercollider - one guy, building pedals, when he feels the urge to build pedals. It is a great fuzz though.

Definite +1 to the pickle pie b! A great fuzz with plenty of bottom, and the clean blend to me is a just fantastic addition.

But the op sold his to me. So I have a funny feeling that it's not what he's looking for.
