switch with LED help needed

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm in need of a 2-3 button switch for utilizing several features with an Ashdown ABM 115 Combo I have. Ashdown does have a 2 button or 4 button switch but without LED's. I'd rather not have to send a switch to be modded for LED's (unless that's the only option).

This would be to switch on/off the subharmonic and overdrive features.

Are any manufacturers recommended for a sturdy with LED's footswitch?

The problem will be that switches are not "the same" between manufacturers/designers. Most of those multi-switch type boxes that are sold as an accessory to an amp are sending a short pulse to a relay switching system inside the amp. So there's a question of polarity, duration and amplitude of pulse, whatever distinction the amp switching system may make between switch commands for multiple functions, and (not to forget) that some switches may use a system entirely different from what I've described.

In short, there is probably no off-the-shelf solution.

Are you talking about a foot switch that changes the channels on your amp?

Wait, my brain gnomes are conspiring... they say to tell the OP to check out the Radial Engineering Loopbone. I'm not entirely sure why, but I just do what the gnomes say...

Radial Loopbone, using the remote switching function? seems like it may work.

Also found this fine item from Radial....

If I had to choose I would go with the Loopbone for the additional features (2 effect loops, boost).

Any opinions on this? will it work? is it mostly doo-doo?

Will it work? Well, if I wanted to answer that it would require that I download the manual for the amp and the loopbone, research it and get back to you. It's much better for you if you did that research yourself so you understand what you're about to buy. You need to find out what the Ashdown requires in terms of remote switching (normally open or closed switches), and then see if the loopbone has a configuration to match.
