Switcher for effects with a loop (like the q-tron+)

Sign in to disble this ad
One thing that's been on my mind since putting together an idea for a board with a q-tron+ is that the FX loop is kindof limiting. Any FX you put in it are in it or out AFAIK.

I sorta came up with this schematic for a switcher unit that allows you to put what ever effects you want in the loop of something like the q-tron+, but also have them either before or after it at the flick of a switch.

I did the scem with 2 4 way switches (supposed to be interlocked mechanically), but a 4 pole 2 throw (iirc) would do this I think, and with just one switch.

Anyways, input would be appreciated. Sorry for the shittyness

mario at robot factory is able to put a switch on the meatwad that does that. i dont know the technical information on it, but i know its possible. kevteop has that on his meatwad.

EDIT: im schematic retarded, what i meant was the switch on the meatwad means you can use the pedals in the loop without the meatwad.

You know, even if its not like my idea, that is some info. Thanks

That just put the 'wad at the top of my filter list

I'm not sure I follow your diagram but it doesn't look like it would work? I was trying to come up with something like this myself before I decided to call Mario about it.

Yes I do have a custom switch on my Meatwad to do pretty much exactly that and yes it's very handy.

how many effects are you switching in?
Because this can be done with a DPDT switch very easily. A la true-bypass strip.

EDIT: Basically, what you do, is you get a DPDT Stomp switch from smallbear or something, and wire it up with a wire between the bottom two terminals on the top two, run those to the send-return jacks FOR THE EFFECT USED IN THE LOOP. The, wire the MIDDLE ones to the ina nd out jacks. Put this all in a box that you put IN THE LOOP of the thing you're using.
One switch, 4 jacks, a few solder joints and you're done.

I'll draw you something later.

Its seems to be that your talking about using a looper to switch off/on multiple effects. Im talking about changing the position of the FX from in the loop to infront or behind the effect with the loop, but inline with it (not in its loop)

Trust me, it should work. I might do up a diagram with 4 single swithes. That would prolly illustrate it more.

Tho honestly, that switch that Mario can put in the 'wad will cover most of what I would do with this anyways (LOL)

Oh. Well, never mind then.

Look at this and tell me if this'll do ya.

Left switch is for before or after the pedal w/ effect loop, and right switch is for in or out of the effects loop.

I think I drew it right, but I'm not going to check now.

Don't bother, it's really messed up upon further review. I'm still looking at it.

Edit:::OK, think I fixed it.

Edit#2:::Nope, need a 4th pole on the right switch to properly control the output of the main pedal.

Hey Daniel,

One reason I keep my GeminiDrive on all the time is to add a volume control to the Qtron+. Without it, the volume on the qtron jumps a little.
