| | | | The synergy effect -- pedals that work well together

I found a magic combo for my guitar rig -- a moderately distorted Fuzz Face into a moderately overdriven ProCo RAT pedal. Which made me wonder if there are any pedal combinations that work especially well for bass, where the sum is greater than the individual parts. Are there any magic pedal combos that TBers have discovered? |

So much more than each pedal individually. Then I sold it off and haven't found pedals that work that well together since. |

Pickle Pie b plus Freaker wah is the ultimate fuzzwah tone I've been lookin for. And depth charge plus akai headrush tape delay proved successful too. And I've never had a bad result turning on a moog ring mod every now and then. Always ends jams on a weird note.....

The Musitronics Octave Divider and Mutron III are a classic funk combo and sound amazing together.
Fuzz and squarewave tremolo is a combo I dig. My favorite was probably either Brown Dog or Assmaster into the Empress trem.
OC-2 plus Randy's Revenge is a lot of fun for that Tim Lefevbre funky skronk sound. |

The adjustments on the fuzz are pretty simple, less fuzz and MOAR FUZZ but the multi chorus lets me add all sorts of different coloring to the tone. |

Also the BBE Optostomp into a VTbass makes for a very convincing Ampeg B25 Emulator.

Mastotron and EHX Memory Man Hazarai (with modulation dialed in) in the upper registers get me a searing yet haunting tone with lots of texture. Moderation is key, gets muddy quick if I get fast or below an open A. |

Maxon CS550 chorus -> Maxon PH350 phaser. Makes my speaker cones wanna jump out of their enclosure. Moves some serious air.
Hao Rust Ride -> ZVex Woolly Mammoth. Add a octave up MicroPOG at the front and I can get a real convincing distorted guitar sound. Even without a MPOG, the RR's intense output does cools things to the Mammoth's pinch control.
HBE Hematoma -> Electronix MessDriveHybrid+. The two overdrive tones compliment each other and stack very well.
Groove Regulator -> Maxon AF9 filter. Setting the GR range to low and AF9 range to high. Covers a huge sweep from BOW to QUACK. Like a dog chompin' down on a duck.

| | | | I'm too new to know what the majority of this stuff is, but not knowing, reading this is hilarious.
"Pickle Pie b plus Freaker wah is the ultimate fuzzwah" - even knowing that these are all effects pedals, this is just too damned funny. Can you imagine someone who had no idea what this is about reading this? I'm dying trying not to laugh out loud at work.
And I'm not going to touch this setup:
"Way Huge Swollen Pickle > Firecracker Fuzz"

The pork loin set to a subtle grit changes the GR from a great subtle filter to a great dirty filter reminiscent of the Sir Psycho tone. Love it to death.
Pork Loin -> Hardwire CR-7:
Set to very subtle grit again, running the Pork Loin into the CR-7 set to either "Jazz", "Analog", or "Multi" modes brings out more of the CR-7's sound and results in a great shimmer.
Pork Loin -> MXR BOD:
The growl on the BOD gets even better with a little overdrive in front of it. I like using the mid boost on the BOD set at 800hz.
MXR BOD -> Groove Regulator:
Octave into Mutron clone?
Musket -> Mastotron:
I cut through the mix with a wall of fuzz this afternoon at a jam. Love it.
MXR BOD -> Musket/Mastotron:
Octave into kick ass fuzz?
