Synth Bass Club What Do You Think?

Yo Guys,
So I am kinda at a standstill with my board. I feel like I got a really good start:
OC2>EBS Valve Drive>MF 101>(Sub Bass Loop A) LS2>Loop A> Woolly Mammoth>Heliotrope>Bassballs Nano>Small Stone Nano>Shape Shifter Tremolo (Loop B)
I mix them about 50/50 most the time.
So what next?
I am thinking:
EHX BMS: Might be a bit redundant with what I already have. It would add auto filter sweeps and a octave up.
Digitech Whammy: Could be cool for weeps and octave.
Boss RE20: I have gone though a couple delays and very kept them on my board. I do like the ideas of expression pedal sweep on the rate for the space ship effect, Reverb and Space Echo might be cool for Dub.
Sub Decay Noise Box: I have never been swept away by clips I have heard, but John Davis loves his.
Mod Box LFO: I would run it to my cutoff filter on the MF 101. I would have Mario add stomp for a expression pedal switch and a expression input for the rate added. I already get a pretty good LFO sound with Tremolo, but the moog LP circuit is a monster.

What do you guys think?
Am I missing anything obvious options?
What kind of music am I playing? If you didn't catch it in the Let me hear your d'n'b, dub....... thread their is a link in my signature.
Let the Ideas Flow!!!

if u want a super kicka$$ tremolo, i highly recommend the moogerfooger ring modulator. the trems are so organic and alive, and you can also hook it up with your lpf to sync with the envelope.

granted its a bit of an overkill, but it can do so many things, and more!

Yeah, I have thought about a MF102, but I am pretty happy with the SS trem, and it had tap tempo which is a must when your drummer is a computer. As far as ring mod, the Heliotrope does a ok sounding one. I do like that the 102 has a out for the LFO though, but then I need to have a stereo a/b switch built to which between that and the Expression pedal.

I think my next step will be an Octavius Squeezer and a Micro POG, mostly for the waveforms (so I can get rid of my G5 and maybe it will also make my Pulse Synth somewhat redundant, although the LFO modulation on that sounds totally B-Movie and ace), the idea of having a programmable analogue filter is also very appealing.

oh, the OS is a pedal that's pretty difficult to master. but once u get the hang of it, the sounds u get are pretty cool.

i usually get some cool sounds using Reason's subtractor synth first before programming it on the OS. Richard Cartwright has mentioned that OS editing software is in the works.

rnilson: how about a bit crusher? the wmd geiger counter looks very promising.

I have an OS, and it's AMAZING!
It can even do beat locked effects with a separate send for the click! or mix the click with your bass...
I've also got a Whammy II and it still fries audiences brains! especially when you pretend you're bending the neck, and slowly slide down an octave (or two)..

I'd definately go the whammy, you can get them cheap(ish) too..

I've got a Line6 filter box (the purple one) and it does many of the sounds Gashaponcito has on his page. They don't have the exact same sound as far as tone goes, but the general effect is pretty similar. I'm not 100% thrilled with the tracking and I've yet to find a tone that is fat enough for what I want (super electro-aggro ala Grendel) but I would likely require a keyboard to get the exact sound I'm looking for. My main beef with the unit is the levels can change wildly from one setting to the next.

I think the whammy is the next box for me, likely with some MoltenVoltage upgrades.

well... i'm getting a ModBox, pretty much exactly as you described it, except i didn't even think about expression controlling the rate.... that is pretty fresh.... i guess i'll just have to get down on my knees and get all jonny greenwood on mine for lfo rate sweeps.

I lucked out and Santa brought me TWO bass pedals for Christmas The ibanez bass synth and a brand new digitech (bp50 I think...the blue one with 2 pedals [looks like NOS zoom, as it must be 10yrs old). I'm having so much fun with the modeling, but for some reason, the ibanez pedal sounds like crap....completely. Not even comparable to the digitech. It's going back in place of a rackmount tuner. I think the digitech will do just fine until I can afford a rackmount pod.

The Noisebox is really cool, especially if you like noisy, weird quacky sounds. But after a little tweaking you can get several useful sounds out of it. i like this thing cause it really interacts with your playing. you can get totally different sounds just by rolling back your volume or play softer. (envelope)
It's not this typical D'n'B-SUBBASS sound, so I use it in a loop as you do, to preserve low end...

The filter section of the BMS is quite cool. wobble sounds are easy to achieve.
I only tried it in Guitar Rig 3, which is a nice possibility to check out some effects or hear how they interact with each other.
GR3 actually got some sort of modbox and a mf101 clone, which you can control via lfo... Ilove it, but I don't like computers on stage!!!!

I wanted to have this LFO ModBox too. I think during July I sent Mario some sketches emails, to use it with my MF101 (Cutoff).
I wanted it to be controllable with an expression pedal (speed) and when it's in bypass mode I wanted to be able to control the MF101 with the exp pedal as I normally do it.
He said he could build it. it was about 250$ i think...

but I decided first to try this:

i will post some samples of the noisebox as I know what you're looking for...I dig your music!

cheers,
merten

Yeah, please do some sound clips that would be awesome!
I am really leaning toward the BMS first then the LFO.
The funny thing is I am only getting the BMS for the filter section.

Y'know though as a complete package the BMS is great - you'll find yourself using the lot. I've got pedals that supposedly should be able to reproduce everything the BMS does, but I still use the BMS. Partly because it just sounds better (than a combination of other kit costing MUCH more!), and partly because it's really, really easy to dial in exactly what you want.

It's a winner.

Just 10 minutes of fiddling around.
Bass-->OC-2-->VB Jr. (Looper)Send--> NoiseBox --> Return --> MF 101 --> MXR Chorus

--> Digidesign Mbox Pro Tools 7.3 LE (no PlugIns)

these crackles you hear are coming from the whacky wav to mp3 converter I used...sorry...damn I need this Ilok-thing...

hope this helps making your decision...
I will post some GuitarRig stuff too soon.

cheers,

diggin the tone on envelope noisebox. any chance you can thick it up and get more percussion out of the attack?

electro noize box is dope too.

yes, I try to thick it up by using the noisbox in a loop to have the sub bass from oc-2 in addition to it.
I usually don't use these enveloped sounds too often in band situations due to the high frequencies the Noisebox is producing.
with several band mates everyone has to more or less stay in his frequency band....so I need to get low.
But these sweeps are cool when i play only with a drummer and perhaps an other synth/key guy.

it ca get really percussive and glitchy. it's a massively tweakable box which enhances your creativity!
if you like noise, that's what you ever wanted !!
