Synth bass tone in a TLC song

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm interested in achieving this tone. To me, it sounds similar to an EHX Bass MicroSynth, as I hear some attack delay. Maybe I need something else, what do you guys think?

It is best heard from 2:55 to 3:24.

I don't if I would use a synth pedal for that myself. I would look at the soundblox bass envelope filter pedal. The clips I have heard seem like it would be able to capture that vibe.

The song title is "Take Our Time" from the album "CrazySexyCool" by TLC.

Thanks Waveman for your help, I'll look to this new pedal. However, I already have an EBS Bassiq.

Sick song. I love TLC. Also an amazing band for EQing your car stereo.

The markbass super synth could probably get you the closest to that tone but an octaver and a solid envelope filter should get you close. I recommend a Boss OC-2 or MXR M288 and the MXR M82 or Source Audio BEF.

Thanks

Thank you for help and your recommendations. I definitely hear some octave down in addition to the filter, and something else. It seems like synth is the way to go.

Today I'm in love with the EHX Bass MicroSynth. The Markbass Synth or the Octavius Squeezer seem like overkill, they have too many options for me. I'll tell you when I have something.

I also like the WMD Superfatman and the Octron, if I were going the filter and octaver way.

By the way, I also love the TLC girls, FunkMetalBass. They have been sexual icons for me since the nineties, and today I happen to like also her music. This is one of their best songs.
