Synth pedal help

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone, never really on this forum, absoultly love some of the knowledge displayed here tho....

Anyway I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the Korg G5? There is a vocal effect on the pedal which is superb, and want in my repetoire. However, this synth unit is extremely hard to come by. I was wondering if anyone's aware of another pedal which has this effect? I'm also keen on the markbass super synth, and will probably purchase this if I can't find the G5 anywhere.

Any suggestions, re-directions or downright advice in relation to good synth pedals will be happily accepted. Thanks.

Hey!

There's a ton of discussion on synth pedals on this site, you can use the search to find plenty of posts about the G5. But in short, it's the only pedal that I know of that has the cool vocal type presets. As a pedal it also has pretty brilliant tracking and plenty of nice sounds. Downsides are the big size, flimsy plastic casing and the quite horrible bypass. A lot of people use these with blend pedals and adjustable loop systems so they don't have to worry about the bypass. These pedals pop up time to time on ebay.

For more, just do a search. Plenty of comparisons between differend synth pedals.

Thanks alot man! Is there a section where people sell things? Id look to put up a notice for the Korg G5, so that if anyone was selling, I would know.

Maybe check out the EHX Bassballs or the TWA Little Dipper - formant filters which can give a source signal (dirty, preferably) an envelope-controlled vocal effect.

I don't know the answer to your original question. But Korg G5's are not as rare as some people say. I've seen many on eBay, often for under $200. It's a buyer's market these days.

And yes, there is also a "For Sale" forum and a "Wanted" forum on this site.

There was one advertised in the Classifieds on here about 2 days ago, maybe you should search first?

I'm not sure about item's wanted but you may need to be a supporting member in order to post threads to the Classifieds.

You can always put a line in you sig so that when people read your posts they will know you are in the market.

I've never had a G5 but it is on my radar.

Other synth pedals you may look into would be the Akai Deep Impact (pricey) the Source Audio Multiwave Bass Distortion Pro, Electro Harmonix Bass Micro Synth, or the Digitech Bass Synth Wah (can be found cheap used).

For me I use a Boss OC-2 pushing a Fuzz pedal into an Envelope Filter to get synthy sounds as well as the Source Audio pedal I mention above.

All good mate

Sometimes I wonder how obvious the stickied thread title "DO A SEARCH BEFORE POSTING A NEW THREAD" needs to be... maybe they could make it flashing and in 3D...
