which synth pedals allow the most tweaking?

Sign in to disble this ad
i have the line 6 FM4- and i can tweak these parameters: freq, depth, speed, mode (sort of presets), mix ( clean & processed signals) i think this is pretty good for the price of the pedal, and i'm quite pleased with the results i get, and you can save 4 at a time on the footswitches.

but some of the other options i'd like to have are:
  1. blend effects into one
  2. ability to assign a parameter of my choice to an expression pedal (like blending effects gradually)
  3. banks to access my saved presets in the order i choose (handy for songs)
  4. an extension jack for more footswitches! ha
  5. oh, and ethernet connection for downloading patches created by the user community

hehe, that would be great!

i've also tried the moog ring modulator which i love, and the noise swash (4ms pedals) is just mind boggling!

i have a boss PH-3 which i modded into a algorithmic sound generator, and i've big plans for a DS-1, more on that later.

off to lunch!

For maximum twiddle-ability, i think the EH Micro bass Synth.
But it hasn't got a memory facility, strictly twiddle.
Nodd

korg AX3000b synth patches can do a lot of that stuff.

The O.S. lets you blend two signals (either synth + fuzz or synth + clean) and put them through a (low-pass or band-pass) filter, then post-filter you can mix in fuzz or clean signal.

Currently can't do this on the O.S. but it's a feature that the designer says is coming in a future firmware patch. There's a socket for it. I don't know which params will be foot-controllable, certainly the filter cut-off.

Yep, can do.

The O.S. could use another two footswitches really, or a way to change the footswitch scheme per patch (which it currently can't do) but in fairness it would have to be twice as big to have two more footswitches.

I keep mine in a bypass loop so I don't have to use one of its two switches for bypass - I either use them as NXT/PRV or set one up for NXT and the other for either MOD or TAP, which works out OK but I have to remember which footswitch mode I need for each song.

The O.S. has an SD card slot for loading/saving patches. Apparently there is an effect exchange section on their website "coming soon" but I don't know when soon will be.

OS +1

you can tweak from here to eternity... makes my head hurt thinking about it. Roll on more downloadable OS presets, I say.

I thought the FM4 has an expression pedal...my DL4 does and that is the best part about it.

OS looks like it has the most tweakability, but not for live tweaks.

I like my BMS but not as much on its own as part of my entire pedalboard...

...no saved patches, all knobs and expression pedals.

You've just reminded me to run my O.S. into my BMS. Might make the "guitar" slider useful for a change.

the fm4 does have an expression pedal. same one as the dl4, but it's application is extremely limited (as far as i know).

and i am as much into live tweaking as i am into getting those good settings saved, ideally speaking the best thing would be to have the footswitches seperate from the main chasis and have the tweaking knobs accessible from a standing position, you know... so i won't have to crouch so much and loose visual contact with bandmates n' stuff.

On the BMS? I never use that slider, no. Usually equal parts sub+oct1 or 10 sub, 7-ish dirt.

JBasstorius,
an Akai SB1 Deep Impact can do the job.

PS
Also an envelope filter (with an fx loop) with octaver & fuzz in the loop
