synth sound for MJ's "You Can't Win"

Is there an effect to reproduce the synth sound with electric bass on the outro to Michael Jackson's "You Can't Win"? The song was part of the soundtrack to "The Wiz" when Michael (as the Scarecrow) is first introduced in the movie and sings it with the crows. The song seems to be electric bass until it switches to synth on it's groovin' jam at the end. The song is worth the listen!!!! If you find the track, the jam at the end goes for a while, NOT one of those times when a song is cut short right when things are cookin'.

I'm not even sure what kind of synth was used and curious about that as well, but for my purposes hoping there is a pedal of some sort that is affordable to actually use with electric bass.

BTW.....the drums are cool on this track check out:
-the high hat work in the beginning
- the triple eighth notes on the kick drum that are played at certain spots of the groove

Thanks for your input!

Update..........I checked Youtube and the movie version of the song is not the same one, so here is a link to the track
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkLXLSEvMLw

The song is 7min 27sec but the jam starts at around 3:10 (so over half the track is the jam!)

In listening to it, could it simply be an octave pedal? I used to have the brown Boss Octave 2 pedal and thinking about getting it again (and I see they have an Octave 3 now). Though it sounds like it, I think that pedal might be too cut and dry and not as dirty and smoothe (if that makes sense at all). Of course, it's how it is played too......

I don't know the answer to your question, but check out this month's Bass Player mag. The cover story is Michael Jackson's bassists. Mine just arrived yesterday, so it'll probably be in the stores in a week or two.
