A synth, a tone generator, anything...

I would like to have my bass sound like a piano sometimes, or bells, or stings. Is there a tone generator or keyboard synth that isn't midi-driven? Capable of live on-stage use? Help, and thanks.

i dont know about a keyboard synth, but i know molten voltage offers a new WH-4 mod that inputs custom settings, the mod is aroudn 120 i think and for 15 you can have them program a chip for you, there are ten modes on it so you could ask for each one of htose to be filled with a sound you want.

maybe not what you're looking for but:
Boss OC2 Octave - -1 octave on full, no clean, no -2octave, sounds like a keyboard bass to me

the OC3 can do similar - some bits on my demo have the 'keyboard bass' sound.

The HOG/POG can get you organ like sounds, and the Octo mode on the Verbzilla sounds a bit like chiming bells to me... But the Roland V-Bass is where it's at.
