I LOVE the fuzz tone on the bass line in this song from 1:01 - 1:30.
My Mastotron can't reproduce this tone. The tone heard probably isn't solely bass, right? Lots of time spent here in Effects but I must admit synthy bass fuzz tones are a fairly cloudy area to me and I don't really know too much about it in regard to effects, other than the popular octave+fuzz+envelopefilter combo.
I know a good gated fuzz should get me there, but does anybody have any recommendations? Chunk Systems? The Mammoth is kind of out of the question since I play actives.
Would it be up to a combination of pedals to get me there?
Gated fuzz + LPF? Or + Detune? Or + Others?
Parallel effects signals?
Volume pedal for swells?
I think this is the closest representation of the synth bass fuzz tone that's been in my head. I MUST FIND ITTT!!!

(Ruiner, like most Devi pedals, has a high output, this is with Ruiner volume at 8:30) Then it would depend on the eq-ing of what's reproducing it or the final eq on the track. There's no gate on a Ruiner but unless it's too loud and feeding back, the sound stops when the string is muted. |

There's a sort of pulsing character to the tone in that song that I don't think one fuzz pedal could do.

Also try muff with the tone set low and sustain set high>GEB-7 with the 800Hz slider maxed.
Just thought I'd throw in a couple of cheaper options

You would run the kick drum into here & set right the compressor would 'pump' the bass signal to the rhythm of the kick drum.
FEA Labs' Opti-FET Compressor is an example of a pedal comp with sidechain loop.

It's the Bass Octave model on my M13 into the aforementioned Subdecay Flying Tomato with a touch of clean blend, through my MXR M-80 DI into Audacity. It was one take, so it's a little sloppy. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/defa...bandID=1103858 |

I guess a hunt for a good gated fuzz and LPF combo is in order.
