I have learned through this forum that this combo can produce synthlike sounds.
I've used 2 different octave pedals. EHX's Octave Multiplexer(one of the 1st pedals I bought I kinda wish I experimented with it more) and MXR's BOD.
I've used a Wounded Paw Battering Ram and Chunk Systems Brown dog with a Frantone Bassweet on it's way for fuzz. I tried a Russian Big Muff but it was the 1st fuzz I tried and I didn't like the way it sounded in the store. I kinda wish I had played it through my rig at home.
I've used a few different filters. EHX's Enigma, Subdecay Prometheus, Pigtronix EP-2(I know it's a envelope phaser not a filter)Xotic's Robotalk2 and Chunk Systems AdentOO Funk.
My final(wishful thinking) most current synthlike setup is The MXR BOD into the Brown Dog into the AgentOO Funk.
What combo's are you guys using to get your synth like tones? And how many different pedals did it take for you to get to your current or favorite synth like combo? |

FUZZ: either a ZVEX Mastotron or a Way Huge Swollen Pickle with the filter maxed
FILTER: either Dunlop 105Q for manual env sweeps or 3Leaf Audio Groove Regulator
i've tried a few different pedals and combination of these following pedals:
OCTAVE: POG2, PS-3 soloed octave, OC-3
FUZZ: Fender Sub-lime, Boss FZ-2, Earthbound Supercollider
FILTER: Q-Tron, Enigma, Boss AW-3
either these pedals would not work in my synthy sound journey or they just weren't for me overall |

Fuzz: Boss SD1, ODB3, CrossDrive, BrassMaster, Lo|Fat
Filter: FX25B, Bass Balls, 3 knob BassBalls, Micro Q-Tron
I also get synthy sounds from a Zoom B2 or B2.1u or Digitech BP8 |

If I would have realized at that time that I'd only be using an octave with Fuzz and a Filter I would have kept it. I am sure I will be trying one of these again but I am currently happy with my BOD.
I wish I was set up to record and post some clips. I am sure some of these combo's sound amazing!!!!! If anyone wanted to share some clips I am sure everyone would appreciate it.
Anyone else want to share their favorite synthy combo? |

| | | | The EHX Qballs alone with the distortion on does it for me.

That's what I do. Lots of options. Proly replace the TMW with a Source Audio Bass Envelope Filter. |

| | | | Well if you want Chris Wolstenholme's kinda synthy sound you could go:
Octave: OC-2
Fuzz: Bass Big Muff Pi
Filter: Digitech Synth Wah/Envelope Filter |

| | | | Not really Fuzz, Oct and Filter but I just got a Pulsar and I am really digging that and the OC-2 or OC-2>Russian Muff>Pulsar.

My synthy octave down sound is: MXR Octave del. into Mess Drive Hybred (only used for octave down sound) into Wounded Paw Attack Goat, blend at 10 o'clock (AG adds that last bit that makes for the super low square wave...you can almost count the low freq pulses like classic Mini Moog bass)
My non-octave-down synthy sounds are 1. just a Devi Ruiner in an Xotic Blender...about 40% Ruiner 2. Prunes and Custard into Devi Ever Karioki Party, or 3. Cross Drive (same maker as Mess Drive) into Attack Goat or (new!) the Take Flight the Goose, settings 4 or 5, 50/50 mix w/ octave and crossover dist on...
I'm also using a Source Audio Bass Envelope. Karioki Party into Bass Envelope into Goose is sounding pretty interesting... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
