Er, you appear to be referring to the Aguiliar Octamizer which is an analogue octaver and won't track chords? The OP has asked about the T-Rex Octavius which is a digital polyphonic octaver and tracks chords perfectly.

Interesting...

The intro & outro muzak sounds really warbly & artificial (blech), but as he demonstrates the pedal in the 'meat' of the clip- it sounds really good. Definitely on the digital side of the spectrum tone-wise, but good!

Seems worth trying out. I'd like a digital octaver (for chords/double stops, etc...), but haven't loved the tone of any of the popular digital offerings. Perhaps this has potential!

yeasir. i'm aware of the difference between analog and digital octavers and how they react very differently to input. the only digital octaver i've spent a signifigant amount of time with was the EHX Micro Pog, and can't stand the thing. the part in the review where he says it does NOT "sound like a steel drum" is a perfect description of the Micro Pog to me. bleh.

i like analog octavers a LOT more, but this sounds a lot more organic than every other digital one i've used. like to check it out.

so, that's why i said it would be nice to have something that doesn't wobble on chords but sounds nice.

Well,I tried it today in Budagov shop in Tel-Aviv (Israel),great pedal, tracks great and still sounds 'natural'.
Getting mine this sunday.
The only problem is my pedalboard setting,
I got 11 Pedals:
EBS Multicomp
EBS OctaBass(Being Replaced by MXR BOD)
Ebs Multidrive
EBS Tremolo
EBS Stanley Clarke Wah
Chunk Systems AGENT 00FUNK MARK II
Malekko B:assmaster
Malekko EKKO 600D
AnalogMan BI-CHORUS
PiggyFX Bass Boar
and now also the
T-Rex Octavius.

how should i put them on my board? in which order?

Thanks In advance,
Gil.

I don't care much for the T-Rex but I want the Octave Divider he sneaked in at some point.

The pedal has bad latency with the bass. I wouldn't recommend it. I had high hopes for it, but was disappointed.

Are there any digital octavers that sound more analog and less "steel drum like" than this?

Tried it today. I was disappointed. I hardly noticed the sub octave frequency although I maxed it up. It was nothing compared to my old OC-2. And the 8tav above sounded like all the other digital pitch transposers I've tried. Just like a zoom, boss, korg multi effect only not as loud, which is why it may seems less "steeldrummy". But if you balance it up it's the same out of tune, pitch, metal sound as the others. A clear no no, stay away from me.

@Gil: I tried it in store, liked it, bought it. Got home and couldn't reproduce the sound I liked. After some messing around I realize it's because the pedal is placed too late in the pedal chain. Now I run it as the first pedal after my bass, and it responds and sounds perfect.

@basmicke: Are you sure you hade the balance between clean and octave signal set correctly? I get plenty of sub-octave volume from mine.

Cheers!

I tested it as I usually do, with a P-bas and an Ampeg SVT bass amp.
I'm sure there's ways you'll get a decent sound out of this box if you stick with it.
I had the lower 8av on max and then tried different setting with the effect balance knob.
The bottom line to me is the kind of sound it produces. It's much more polite and subtle than the analog octavers I'm used to. The upside is this unit tracks well and mixing the lower octave with the upper gives a church like big sound that I recognize from the Pog and other digital units. My personal problem with it is the lows are not tight and powerfull enough, regardless how I adjust it, and what I end up with is a more "boomy" sound that is hard to balance. But I guess it's all about taste. I just wanted to share my experience so that people used to analog octavers will understand the difference and tries it before buying.
Cheers

Sorry. Think I misinterpreted your earlier post.
I can see what you mean with your description of the sound. I guess it's a matter of taste if you like it or not.

I think the video linked previously in this thread represents the quality and type of sound of the pedal quite well.
