Any takes on this? Searched and found a few threads but none with any concrete reviews. T-rex pedals usually come with duo switches which seem rather useful when changing tones between parts of a song. http://t-rex-effects.com/Default.asp...D115&VariantID
Controls
On/Off, Modulation, Level,
Time Echo Repeat Flutter, Speed
Anyone has tried one of these? It's functions quite resemble that of the Subdecay Echobox.
Any comments/inputs are appreciated! |

also, im curious as to the purpose of the other knob, if its siginificant. personally, i feel that the knobs and fucntions resemble the subdecay and im torn between these two boxes.
yea so im trying to find out more about this as nothing much is written about this as compared to the subdecay. |

| | | | I have the Reptile. I like the modulation available on it and that it has the footswitch to turn off the modulation to use flutter mode. It sounds great on bass. I mainly use it for chorus type sounds. I have several chorus pedals also but I also like to be able to change the delay time for varied sounds of chorus. Originally, I too was looking between the Reptile and Echobox. If I recall, the minimum delay on the Echobox is 35ms and the Reptile is 10ms. That made the difference for me. They both have a long delay time, for me that wasn't a factor. My main interest was the modulation of the pedal and with the available lower delay time and the added modulation switch and flutter settings, that made the Reptile the best choice for me...... | | | Oh BTW..... From another chorus thread of someone looking for fretless chorus sounds, I made clips of several, including the Reptile, if you are interested. Be mindful these are all with a fretless bass. There are also 2 other delays (rackmount) in the group also, the Deltalab and Digitech.
Here are clips of fretless bass with chorus. I looped a riff through each chorus. Each clip begins dry, then progresses through several settings, first with slow rate, high depth and medium blend (if applicable), then progresses to high rate, low depth and medium and various settings in between, as some effects have more controls than others, and end with a dry bass. I aimed to show the variety of sounds to be found from each pedal and also at similar settings to show their differences in sound. I kept it simple.
Choruses in use:
EBS Unichorus
Dr. Scientist Cosmichorus
DLS Chorus-Vib
EHX antique Clone Theory
Boss CEB-3
Trace Elliott Quad Chorus
Ibanez Twin Cam chorus
T-Rex Reptile delay
Eventide Modfactor
Digitech RDS 3600 delay
Deltalab CE1700 Compu Effectron

Enjoy… (or not)……Lapicide | awesome! that's been a great help! and really appreciate the input!
btw any reason why you went with a delay/modulation instead of a plain chorus...i am asking since you even chose the delay with a shorter delay time. |

yea so im trying to find out more about this as nothing much is written about this as compared to the subdecay. | The pedal has both a delay and a modulation effect, similar to the Subdecay. The Reptile allows the modulation to be turned on and off with a separate footswitch unlike the Subdecay.
I'm satisfied with the amount of delay range it has. The modulation is a nice feature as well and can be set from subtle to over the top. It's fairly dark sounding, has a good buffered bypass and has the advantage of a side mounted gain control which eases switching instruments or effect chain levels.
It's well built and is a quality item. I personally prefer a brighter delay so I don't think it's currently a perfect match for my needs, but it's definitely a good pedal.

Some of the chorus pedals have the ability to adjust the delay time, such is the Cosmichorus and DLS chorus vib. The Cosmichorus is an analog chorus, the DLS a digital chorus. A bit different of a sound from each. I wanted a delay to be able to cover a larger delay range and have the ability to add modulation. To be able to add very subtle chorus at 10ms or some very spacious chorus at 30ms, 50ms on up. I do have some rack mount delays that could also do that, however they are digital delays. I like to have a mix of the digital and analog in effects. The digital delays and chorus I have, have a more , "accurate or pristine sound". Sometimes I like to have that , sometimes not. So I have both, hence an analog delay. I do like the Reptiles control to turn off the modulation with a footswitch and the delay times range 10ms to 1000ms, as compared to the echobox 35ms to 800ms. That's the factors in my choice, it has a few more available options...... Lapicide |
