Tech 21 VT Bass

I have a vt bass deluxe and use an esp ltd b155dx. What would be the settings to get
1. A Flea tone
2. A victor Wooten tone
I know its mostly their playing and the basses but am sure I can get something out of the vt.
Please help me out.

The VT Bass pedals are designed to give you old school SVT tube amp sounds, and tube overdriven crunch.

Flea uses GK solid state amps, and Wooten's sound is anything but vintage.

Maybe the VT Bass isn't the right tool to get the tone you're looking for.

You're better off getting a John Entwistle or John Paul Jones sound out of that thing.

It's true, that the VT bass won't get exactly what you are looking for--it's more for a vintage sound. But it can probably get a usable slap tone. There is a demo on youtube where a guy slaps...sounds good to me.
Though honestly I don't usually slap (except goofing around at home) , so I've never really tried my VT set for that kind of sound. My guess for a starting point would be something like : Gain very low, Mid cut below 12:00, Treble above 12:00, and Bass at 2:00 or a bit more.

No am getting awesome tones out of it. But I want a good cleanish tone with a slight growl and a lot of body for soft numbers. Please give me some settings.

my favourite setting on VT Bass is what i call the "Valve Drive" Setting. Character set with the Knob Marker pointing at the letter "C", The Drive between noon and no further than poiting at the letter "E", Lows at 1pm, Mid at 11am, Highs at 12:30pm.

for a less driven sound i call the "Warm Valve" setting, i will drop the Drive to around 11pm, boost low to around 2pm, highs to 1pm, cut mid to 10pm.

Flea tone: off.

Wooten tone: off.

Sorry but I've just never heard anything like those tones coming out of the VT. Or Flea or Vic.

Don't use the blend so much....12 or less. I don't have the vt but on my bddi the key to going hi if is to not let the pedal color out the entire tone of you bass....just let it give a little warmth. Waits does this pedal even have a blend? Sorry

JimmyM 03-04-2013 06:33 PM

No blend on the VT or VT Deluxe, but the VT DI coming out soon has one.
