Toadworks Meat Jr.?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I've been pondering replacing my Hematoma with a 3XFX Fatman, but I've become really spoiled with the boost function. Toadworks' Meat Jr. seems like a pretty strong option, but a search seems to reveal that while folks here are aware of the pedal, they haven't mentioned it in quite a while. Has anybody had a chance to try one of these? Are there other good boost options out there that my search missed?

Thanks, cheers!

In all seriousness though, there are dozens of great clean boost and dirty boost pedals out there. Hundreds if you take into account all the garage pedal-builders copying from the same schematic. Did you want the boost to be clean or dirty on its own? And did you plan on using it with the nitro-burning 3XFX Fatman?

Ha! Very fair point! I guess I should specify a bunch of things, including that I was thinking of only getting the overdrive circuit, and not the photo-eye fuzz circuit, since I have a B:Assmaster already, and if I wanted it'd be easy enough to run the whole chain through an Eye of God. The reason the Meat Jr. specifically appealed to me was its ability to switch between clean boost and fat. The dirty thing I think I'd have covered. I'd probably use a boost right before the 3XFX and the Malekko.

Thanks!

The Fatman doesn't really "clean up."

It just destroys everything in its way 100% of the time.

Oh man, have I ever not explained myself well!

I wouldn't expect or want the Fatman (which I'd opt to buy without the V2 half of the pedal) to clean up at all, I'd expect it to do exactly what you said it would. That much I've got figured, and if I paired a Fatman with my B:Assmaster, I figure that should cover "dirty" just fine. What I'm mainly (and apparently really poorly -- thanks, college!) trying to get at is if people have experience with that Meat Jr. pedal (to put before both dirty pedals).

Thanks guys!

Aha!

Buy a Fatman. That is all.
