Toneworks AX3000b ?

Sign in to disble this ad
basically I'm new to effect's having never even used any pedal before and looking to get a good multi-effect pedal.

If anybody has used this pedal, would you recomend it or would you think it would be better to get the Boss GT-10B (even though it is more expensive)

if it helps, i mainly play metal but also play primus/les claypool so a good wah and chorus would be good, also a 'fuzz' effect (i think that's what it's called)

thanks in advance

I tried a Toneworks AX-something or other once and the only effect I really liked on it was the envelope filter which was really impressive. It was by far the best filter in a multi-effect that I've tried. I think the fuzzes on the Line6 M9 are much more impressive. I haven't tried the wah because I don't have an expression pedal but the filter is annoying because it's super oversensitive. I haven't tried the Boss multis but the Zoom pedals are pretty good, well rounded, decent sounds, and very affordable.
That's my 2 cents. If you search for "multi effects" you'll find lots of discussion.

Hi,
i have owed both pedals.
The Korg is really good, lots of options. Very good sounding.
The Boss is great too, even more options.
I kept the Boss for one reason: The integrated Looper!

So, if you don't need the looper, I'd stick with the Korg.
They are both great units. The Korg is much less expensive though....

Regards,
Paul

I've once owned a korg "toneworks" ax3000b bass modeling signal processor. it's a pretty good multi-effects processor. I have sound samples of the korg ax3000b on my soundclick website if you're wondering how it sounds. here's the link.

www.soundclick.com/crystalman85

The sound samples of the korg ax3000b is on the second page on my soundclick website. feel free to check it out.

An envelope (controlled) filter responds to the dynamics or volume of your signal while a wah is controlled by a treadle. An auto wah is controlled by a low frequency oscillator (LFO) just like a phaser, chorus, or tremolo etc. Also, wahs are usually band pass filters while envelope filters are usually low pass although many have LP, BP, and even HP modes.

Les actually used to use the AX300B, and then went on to use the AX3000B for the Purple Onion album.

I've had mine for a few years now. It's a really good multi-fx board that you can usually find them for pretty cheap used or even new.

I have always been a fan of both companies' products, but there's something about the Korg effect units that just "do it" for me. I don't have experience with the AX3000B, but I used the AX1B for a long time, still rely on my Pandora PX3B for practice and live sit-in work, and even had the A4 Bass at one time, as well as tried out an AX300B. All were to my liking very much.
