trying to emulate "the move" bass sound. clips here-

clips were found in this thread, along with some info about the bass he was using..

The Move bassists and bass sound

would i be insane to try and get this sound through a pedal? VT bass perhaps?

or would i need to get some sort of rediculous customized jazz bass into whatever amp he was using and turn it up to 11?

thought? alternatives?

Fresh rounds and a VT Bass should do the trick.

Nice clips, by the way.

i could only hope so- but it seems to good to be true. i feel like its been hyped about so much i'm destined to end up dissapointed with the VT. but, that being said, i'm probably going to try/order one, sometime soon. unless theres a differnt approach to this sound- without a tube amp

Suffice it to say, the VT deserves the hype it's received. Note that I don't say, however, that everyone has loved it. That does imply that you might not, but I think you can approximate the examples you supplied pretty well with it, close enough to where no one but bass gear fanatics in an audience would be able to tell/care.
