Question Too Simple: need Reco on EQ...

Sign in to disble this ad
this is a really dumb question, but I have for years been using an EQ not really designed for Bass but works pretty well... a Roland box. But I'd really like to get a first-class EQ that is simple and just works. Ordinarily I'd look to Boss for such an animal but thought I would ask the gang here what works for you?

thanks

I like the Boss GEB-7. What are you looking for and what's your budget?

Simple and first class? Define both, please!

First thing that comes to mind is something like a Barber Linden eq (simple 2-band). Or do you want a graphic? Or a great parametric like the Empress ParaEQ?

The following parameters will help us hone-in better on what you might want (as opposed to listing what we each own):
-Budget
-Type (graphic, parametric, fixed band rotary)
-Any other size, weight or odd requests

Good coaching gents...
The Boss GEB-7 was where I was headed unless someone has a strikingly better idea.

1. Budget - buy used if available, $100 cap
2. Simple meaning I don't need a fancy display to break, durable controls, good circuits, sliders or pots, jacks.
3. Good I/O - need to be able to run out to a DI box, I don't think I need phantom power so mic jack is good, not mandatory, AC power is good, not mandatory. Clean electronics, low noise, some boost-ability would be good if it is well implemented.
4. No other effects needed for this. I'll do those separately.

That's better. "Top Notch" and "$100 cap" are totally different things! You're obviously not looking for a boutique unit.

The Boss GEB-7 is the obvious choice. It's durable, low noise, runs on wall adapter or batteries and works well for bass!

Any eq will be able to run into a di (except for expensive rackmount studio eq's).

Why would you need a mic jack (xlr input)? Are you wanting to use it on vocals as well? Confused.
