Overall, I like them both. The DL-4 is allegedly a bit flimsier than the Boss. For delays I'd go DL-4; for looping I'd go RC-20XL. Depends on what's more important to you.

more features, basically. you can do more with it. the RC-20xl does not function as a delay, only a very full-featured looper. perhaps it would be better to compare the DL4 with the Boss DD-20... or the Line 6 JM4 with the Boss RC-20xl.

the Nova Delay is certainly built better than the DL4... and it has some very cool features that the DL4 doesn't have, most notably the "thump-tempo" feature (ie, if you hold down a footswitch and thump your strings to the beat, it'll sync up to that tempo for you. badass.)... but it doesn't have a looper function. so, as far as the amount of features is concerned, the DL4 wins.

tell us: are you looking more for a versatile delay unit, or a looper? i'm guessing delay....

well if it was the looper, itd be for solo purposes, becasue you rarely get to use a looper while recording. So i thinkt he delay, because im all about the ambient sound
